About the concert
På svenskaSerbian cellist Petar Pejčić performs, among other works, Shostakovich and Piazzolla.
Petar Pejčić has been nominated by Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, Konzerthaus Dortmund and Palau de la Música Catalana. The Serbian cellist studied in Germany at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” in Leipzig with Peter Bruns and currently studies at the Kronberg Academy with Frans Helmerson.
He was awarded Fifth Prize at the Queen Elisabeth Competition in 2022, the AENA Special Prize (Second Prize) at the International Pablo Casals Competition, and Second Prize at the International Anna Kull Competition, both in 2020. Here, he performs together with the Moroccan-born pianist Nour Ayadi, who has studied, among other places, at the Conservatoire in Paris.
ECHO Rising Stars is a unique and forward-looking collaboration between 23 of Europe’s leading concert halls within ECHO – the European Concert Hall Organisation. Each year, a select group of young artists and ensembles from different countries is chosen and given the opportunity to tour the concert halls and meet an international audience. Experience shows that those selected as Rising Stars go on to enjoy successful international careers.
