Laura Netzel – music for violin and piano
About the concert
På svenskaExternal organiser: DUX Recording Producers
Welcome to a concert in which violinist Agata Kawa-Cajler and pianist Aleksandra Dallali present music by the Swedish-Finnish composer Laura Netzel, one of the most interesting yet still underappreciated composers in Nordic music history.
Netzel’s music is rooted in both Swedish and French traditions and moves between late-Romantic elegance, lyrical intimacy and a distinct personal voice. Born in 1839, she worked in a time when women were rarely given space, yet she achieved international recognition, often under the pseudonym N. Lago. This programme presents a selection of pieces for violin and piano, from poetic miniatures to more virtuosic and dramatic works. The concert forms part of a project that aims to bring Laura Netzel’s music back to today’s concert stages and also includes a new CD featuring her complete works for violin and piano.
Agata Kawa-Cajler is a violinist, soloist, chamber musician and teacher active in Sweden and internationally, and regularly appears as a guest concertmaster and section leader with professional orchestras.
Aleksandra Dallali is a pianist and chamber musician at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, with an extensive concert career across Europe.
The duo has worked together for more than ten years and share a commitment to chamber music and to bringing lesser-known repertoire to light.
The project has received financial support from the Längman Cultural Foundation and the Swedish Arts Council.
