Geir Anfinsen

Member of the orchestra since 2004.

Since 2004, Geir Anfinsen has been a trombone player with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra. Prior to that, he spent twelve years as a solo trombone player with the Gävle Symphony Orchestra. Geir Anfinsen is from Kongsvinger in Norway and studied at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo with Ingmar Roos, former trombone player with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra. He has also been a member of the Nordic Brass Ensemble since 1993.

Geir Anfinsen is also a vocalist and has performed in Elvis Costello’s The Juliet Letters for string quartet and voice, which was presented at Konserthuset in 2008. He has also worked with both vocals and trombone in the Modern Fantazias chamber orchestra, including at the Stockholm Music and Arts festival. In addition, he plays burlesque jazz in Swing Sling Brass. Geir Anfinsen has participated in Konserthuset’s Soup Concerts and Philharmonic Up-Close subscriptions on many occasions.
