Blue House Jazz – Miles & Trane at 100
Magnus Lindgren and John Beasley
About the concert
På svenskaA tribute to two legends, Miles Davis and John Coltrane, led by Magnus Lindgren and John Beasley.
Pianist John Beasley and multi-instrumentalist Magnus Lindgren lead a handpicked band in a double tribute to Miles Davis and John Coltrane. Both would have turned 100 in 2026 – and both, incidentally, also performed at Konserthuset, both together and separately: Miles Davis ten times and John Coltrane eight times.
Miles Davis passed away in 1991 and made his final appearance at Konserthuset in April 1982. John Coltrane left us as early as 1967, at the age of 40. His last performance at Konserthuset took place in October 1963.
This marks yet another collaboration between Magnus Lindgren and John Beasley – the creative partnership that previously, among other projects, produced the Grammy Award-winning Charlie Parker tribute Bird Lives.
The highly acclaimed composer, arranger and pianist John Beasley has performed with legends such as Miles Davis, Freddie Hubbard, Dianne Reeves, Steely Dan, Marcus Miller, Chaka Khan and James Brown.
Magnus Lindgren has collaborated with a wide range of leading artists, including Herbie Hancock, Gregory Porter, James Ingram, Bobby McFerrin, Ivan Lins, Till Brönner and John Scofield. He was also, together with Peter Asplund, Artistic Director of Konserthuset’s Blue House Jazz Orchestra.
