Organ Matinee with Karol Mossakowski
Karol Mossakowski
About the concert
På svenskaImprovisations and music by Johann Sebastian Bach with the distinguished Polish organist.
The Organ Matinee series, in which Sweden’s leading organists perform, has grown and become highly popular. The organ at Konserthuset Stockholm, with its magnificent façade, is one of the most renowned in Europe and, with its 6,100 pipes, also one of the largest.
Polish organist Karol Mossakowski enjoys an international career. He has won several prestigious competitions and, since 2023, has been organist at Saint-Sulpice in Paris – a church associated with many great figures in history, including Charles-Marie Widor and Marcel Dupré. Mossakowski performs worldwide and collaborates with leading orchestras and conductors.
Music by Johann Sebastian Bach is interwoven in the programme with Karol Mossakowski’s own improvisations. We hear the Sinfonia from Cantata No. 29, an arrangement of the prelude from Bach’s own Partita in E major for solo violin, here in a festive version for organ. The Six Schübler Chorales consist of reworkings of earlier cantata movements, in which Bach gives some of his most beloved melodies new life.
