Håkan Ehrén

Co-Principal and member of the orchestra since 1990.

Håkan Ehrén has been section leader of the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra since 1990. He is also a member of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe and was previously solo double bass player with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam and the London Symphony Orchestra.

Håkan Ehrén has won prizes in several international competitions, including the ARD International Music Competition in Munich. For fifteen years, he was also an assistant professor at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm.

Håkan Ehrén has performed as a soloist with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra on multiple occasions. He also regularly participates in various chamber music contexts, including Konserthuset’s Soup Concerts and Philharmonic Up-Close. He has also appeared regularly as a soloist in conjunction with the annual Composer Festivals and has recorded double bass concertos by Eduard Tubin and Lars-Erik Larsson for BIS Records.
