A venue for award ceremonies
Many major awards ceremonies take place at Konserthuset annually – which is no surprise, since the building was originally built, among other things, with the Nobel Prize Award Ceremony in mind, and its festive atmosphere provides an appropriate backdrop for big events.
Both the Nobel Prize Award Ceremony and the Polar Music Prize are held annually in close partnership with Konserthuset and with participation from the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra.
Other regularly recurring major awards ceremonies include the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award (ALMA, a literary award), the August Prize and Dagens Industri’s Gasellgalan (“Gazelle Gala”). In addition, both the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) and the Royal Institute of Technology hold their formal ceremonies at Konserthuset.
