Stefan Lindgren

Orchestra pianist since 2007.

Stefan Lindgren has been the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra’s orchestral pianist since 2007. He held the same position with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra from 1993-2001. He entered the piano solo programme at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm in 1976 and graduated in 1980. He then continued his studies at the Juilliard School of Music in New York from 1981–1983, where he obtained his postgraduate diploma.

He has appeared with most major orchestras in Sweden and has given numerous piano recitals and chamber music concerts in Sweden and abroad. At Konserthuset, he has participated in a large number of different chamber concerts and composer festivals in particular – such as the 2016 festival featuring Oliver Knussen, where Lindgren performed solo pieces and accompanied soprano Claire Booth. Stefan Lindgren has appeared as a soloist with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra in performances including Franz Berwald’s Piano Concerto and in conjunction with the 2015 Composer Festival in a performance of Nadia Boulanger’s Fantaisie (Variée) for Piano and Orchestra.

Stefan Lindgren is also a composer and has composed several piano concertos, among other works. The world premiere of his most recent piece, Piano Concerto No. 4, was in 2012 and performed by the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra with Lindgren as soloist.
